Deryn began classical violin lessons at the age of four. Able to read music before she could read words, she began competing locally and state-wide. In her 20+ year musical career, she has played with the Florida Symphony Youth Orchestra, the National Symphony Youth Orchestra, the Florida State University Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Orlando Philharmonic. In addition she has won and placed numerous times in the Florida Federation of String players as well as in the Florida Fiddling Competition.
Today, her heart lies in Folk, Bluegrass, and neo-traditional Irish music. Deryn used to live in Israel, where she played regularly at Molly Bloom's Irish Pub in Tel Aviv. (Crazy, but true!). Israel is also where she met her husband, a Haifa native. Today, she is the Director of Community Engagement at Epstein Hillel School and lives in Salem, MA with her husband and dog, Krembo.
