In 2011, Deryn moved from Tallahassee to Nashville, TN and immersed herself in Bluegrass. Finding musical inspiration from Allison Krauss, Ricky Skaggs, Roy Acuff, and Nickel Creek, she began to learn the art of Bluegrass on the Broadway strip in downton Nashville.
The Bluegrasswholes have been playing together for many years under many different names. Once known as the Garnet and Gold Bluegrass Band, the Bluegrasswholes currently play all over North Florida and South Georgia at festivals, private events, and the first friday of every month at Railroad Square in Tallahassee. Deryn sang and played fiddle with the Bluegrasswholes for five years before moving to Nashville.
